Project to eliminate AUPSA

The draft bill 171 that repeals Decree 11 of February 24, 2006, which created the Panamanian Food Safety Authority (AUPSA), was approved on Thursday, October 15, by the Commission on Agricultural Affairs, chaired by Deputy Eric Broce.

The initiative, proposed by Deputy Ana Giselle Rosas, establishes the repeal of Decree Law 11 of February 26, 2006, which created AUPSA, so that the functions of this entity will be assumed by the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) and the Ministry of Health (MINSA).

Through this legislative initiative, producers support the elimination of AUPSA, without creating the National Service for Food Export and Import Procedures (SENTA), an entity proposed in another bill promoted by the Executive Branch that would replace AUPSA.
