Ricardo has focused his legal practice on Commercial and Civil Law, Administrative Litigation, Maritime, Arbitration Procedures, Family Law and Criminal Law, for more than a decade, representing clients in front the Civil and Criminal Courts, as well as in front the Maritime Courts of Panama and different arbitration centers, in a wide range of local and international disputes related to corporate, commercial, civil and trademark matters, as well as maritime litigation and administrative cases.
It also has experience in Administrative Law and regulated activities in the areas of telecommunications, environment, insurance, among others, providing advice and daily assistance to clients in connection with the establishment of operations in Panama and the obtaining of licenses, permits and applicable approvals from Panamanian regulatory authorities. It also advises on the new Data Protection regulations.
He holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) focused on litigation and dispute resolution (where he was recognized as Thomas Buergenthal for his academic merits) from George Washington University School of Law, Washington D.C., USA (2017). He has a degree in Law and Political Science with honors from the Catholic University Santa María La Antigua of Panama (2010), period during which he participated in an Exchange Program for Outstanding Students with high academic average of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina in Buenos Aires (2009).
He also has postgraduate studies and certifications in: Evidentiary Law (Latin University of Panama), Cybercrime and Computer Forensics (Latin University of Panama), Data Protection Regulations (Florida State University), Arbitration under the CECAP Center Rules (CECAP), Training of Arbitrators and Secretaries under the CESSON Center Rules (University of Panama), Rules for the practice of evidence in international arbitration under the IBA and the American Law of International Arbitration (YAG-CESCON), Oral Litigation Techniques (National Bar Association), Maritime Arbitration in Panama (CECOMAP), International Maritime Conventions and Codes and Technical Certificates (APADEMAR/Intermediate Certification Services), Procedural and Evidential Law for Civil Oral Litigation (DDOJA).
He is the founder, shareholder and member of the legal committee of Club Deportivo Universitario, a professional football club of the first division of the Panamanian Football League (LPF); Member of the Panama Bar Association; the Panamanian Association of Maritime Law (APADEMAR); Vice President of the Group of Young Arbitrators, YAG-CESCON; Member of the Spanish Arbitration Club; and President of the Trade and Investment Policy Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce - Panama - for the 2024-2025 term
